In Europe, gas reserves will last only two months, and then the inhabitants of the countries of the region will have to freeze in their homes if the situation in the energy sector does not change for the better. This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to experts, the transition of states to renewable energy sources, which are unable to meet the emerging needs, led to the fuel crisis. Under the influence of environmentalists, the countries have reduced the volume of mining. In Europe, they began to massively switch to the use of wind and solar energy, abandoning the development of gas fields.

The deputy head of the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, Massimo Di Odoardo, commented on the situation. According to him, it will not be possible to rectify the situation without launching the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Certification of the project was delayed due to some countries accusing Moscow of "aggression". The list of such states includes Ukraine, the USA, Poland, the Baltic republics.

In Europe, fuel prices have risen significantly since spring. The region has not seen such persistently high gas prices since 1996. Experts attribute the increase in the cost of the energy carrier to the low level of storage capacity, limited supply and high demand for LNG in Asia. The situation is aggravated by cold weather in Europe. Due to low air temperatures, gas consumption has increased, and its volumes in storage facilities in the countries of the region have rapidly decreased.
